Inna Aslamova is a dancer, choreographer, teacher and organizer of contemporary dance art events in Belarus. Born in Kazakhstan, she studied at a music school and artistic gymnastics school. Graduated as a physicist from Gomel State University (Belarus), in 1992 during the festival IFMC in Vitebsk (Belarus) she discovered the existence of contemporary dance. She has studied contemporary and modern dance technique, composition, contact improvisation, Action Theater, solo performance improvisation visiting ADF training in Moscow as well as many other workshops in different countries. Special thanks to teachers: Douglas Nielsen (USA), Miroslava Kovarova (Slovakia), Joe Alter (USA), Rosalind Crisp and Andrew Morrish (Australia).

 

1994 Formed a Contemporary Dance Group “Quadro”. Created performances and projects. Which were presented at the international festivals in Belarus, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine, Sweden, Moldova, France, Russia, South Korea, Germany, Slovakia and UK.

 

2001-2008 Head of the Contemporary Dance Department of the Children Dance School in Gomel. It was the first experiment of its kind in Belarus and Inna created a program of teaching children for the 6-year educational course, including modern and contemporary dance techniques, as well as basics of improvisation and composition. Her pupils took part in some international projects  and won  competitions such as International Children’s Ballet Festival “BBF-4” (Daugavpils, Latvia, 2004) in nominations “ Best concert program”, “Best solo”, “Grand Prix of the Festival”; festival IFMS (Vitebsk, Belarus, 2004) in nomination “School “ and other contests.

2006 supported the idea of the Director of Marc Chagall Museum Lyudmila Khmelnitskaya to organize an art- school for children. The purpose of the project was to create an opportunity for young artists from Belarus, Germany and Latvia to collaborate on the intersection of different art forms. Inna was a choreographer and teacher at the “Summer Art School of Mark Chagall Museum / Young dancers and artists' workshop” (Vitebsk, Belarus - 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011; Nienburg, Germany - 2012).

2013 – 2021 Initiator, co-organizer, art-director of the Festival of Physical and Dance Theaters Plastforma (Minsk), one of the most important art-event for development of contemporary dance and physical theaters in Belarus

Since 2017 - together with Daniil Belkin (Ukraine), created the educational project The LAB Center and ID Dance Project (artistic context)

Teacher of contemporary dance technique, improvisation and composition for children and adults during the festivals and educational programs in Belarus, Poland, Moldova, France, Russia, Ukraine, Sweden and Germany. 2017-2021 - teacher for College of Art named after Sokolovsky (Gomel). Teacher of Contact Improvisation lessons for both dancers and people wishing to learn this dance style. There were created some performances for the Gomel Palace & Park Ensemble

Cooperated as a dancer and choreographer with Daria Buzovkina (Russia; performances “When the Dog doesn’t Obey” (2008) and “Kosice-something near” (2012). She also cooperated with Gomel Youth Theater (Creative Laboratory for Artists) and with Children Music School No1. One of the results of cooperation was a children's opera production..

 

Creator of the improvisational projects with international dance teams “Something about us” (2018), “Danswer” (2022) – Belarus, Poland, Ukraine

Participant of the international dance residences:  K.A.I.R.-Kosice Artist-In-Residence (Slovakia, 2012), Theater Institute im. Zbignieva Raszewskiego (Poland, 2022)

Was awarded with prizes:

  • “Best Choreography” (IFMC, national contest, 2002), special prize for the piece “In the Face of the Sky” (IFMC, international contest, 2004),

  • “Best dance teacher” and “Best choreographer” (IFMC, national contest, 2004),

  •  Winner of the choreographers contest at the Children’s Ballet Festival “BBF-4” (Daugavpils, Latvia, 2004)
